As an ambassador of faith in Christ and rooted in Biblical principles, the Missionary Recruitment Specialist will actively minister to East-West leadership, staff, partners, and the community in a manner that exhibits Christ-character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
The Missionary Recruitment Specialist facilitates a discovery experience for new and potential overseas missionaries by providing individualized mentorship, discipleship, and care. They will work with the East-West Recruitment team to proactively recruit and mobilize long-term, overseas missionaries. As new potential goers are identified, the coach will encourage the development of potential goers by fostering spiritual, relational, and emotional health throughout the entire discovery coaching experience. This may include coordinating the development of potential goers through discipleship plans, exposure to local ministry opportunities, and training as they seek to discover their calling to the nations. The Missionary Recruitment Specialist will need to gracefully evaluate mission readiness and discern areas of growth for potential goers to help them prepare for and understand their calling to the nations. To be successful in this role, the Missionary Recruitment Specialist will work to gain a high level of attunement on matters that threaten missionary health overseas, while also promoting resources, partnerships, and collaborations to proactively prepare and make aware potential goers in such areas as they begin their application experience. The Missionary Recruitment Specialist will also represent East-West at a variety of events and conferences as well as through online platforms to connect with potential goers.

- Location: East-West Offices in Plano, Texas (Remote and/or hybrid options may be consider for candidates with East-West experience and/or overseas missionary experience.)
- Position Funding: Missionary and ministry employees, including this role, must raise 100% of the funds to cover the cost of their salary, benefits, and some ministry expenses. New support-raising staff complete support-raising training and East-West will be there to guide you through creating a budget, utilizing our donor management software, and coaching you through the journey of support-raising throughout your career with East-West.
A Day in the Life of the Overseas Missionary Mobilizer/Discovery Coach
- Missionary Recruitment and Coaching
- Provide mentorship, discipleship, and care to potential overseas missionary staff as they explore opportunities with East-West and walk through the overseas missionary application process.
- Recruitment Support
- Proactively seek out like-minded contacts who align with East-West’s Vision, Mission, Values, and Biblical principles through various networking and recruiting channels
- Patriciate in Recruitment Team Meetings, Conference, and Retreats
- Develop and maintain network of personal support
- Lead, attend, and/or contribute to East-West sponsored spiritual formation activities and perform other duties as assigned
The Qualifications of the Missionary Recruitment Specialist
- Uphold a close and growing relationship with Jesus
- BA degree or equivalent experience, preferred
- 2-3 years minimum experience in a similar role, desired
- 2-3 years of ministry/nonprofit experience
- Overseas missions experiences, strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate opportunities with poise, diplomacy and tact
- Flexibility to quickly respond to changing situations in order to meet needs,
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment
- Prone to seek and carry out additional responsibilities
