Pre-field Equipping Specialist

Position Summary:

As a part of the Pre-field Equipping team, the Pre-field Equipping Specialist will primarily, but not exclusively, serve as a Trail Guide for new support-raised field staff. They will accompany, shepherd and guide the new field staff member through all the necessary steps needed to complete their pre-field equipping and onboarding process in becoming full-time staff at East-West. As a Trail Guide, they will interact with appropriate key stakeholders at East-West to help ensure that all new field, support-raised staff are adequately set up and prepared for healthy personal growth and fruitful ministry prior to starting in their new role. In consultation with the supervisor of the new staff member, the Pre-field Equipping Specialist will help develop a pre-field equipping and Onboarding Pathway for these new staff members, aligned with the stated Vision, Mission, and Values of East-West. The Pre-field Equipping Specialist will meet regularly with the new staff member and track the new staff member's progress in their accomplishing tasks and milestones, while regularly updating the new staff member's supervisor and other key stakeholders on the new staff member’s progress. The Pre-field Equipping Specialist will also help with additional pre-field equipping projects, and will take part in any training (external or internal to East-West) necessary to fulfill the position requirements.

This is a fully support-raised position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of a successful onboarding process for new field support-raised staff, including guiding and tracking the progress of the new staff member, updating key stakeholders, problem-solving
  • Update and improve the Onboarding Pathway, process, and related materials as needed
  • Assist with other pre-field equipping projects
  • Develop and maintain a network of personal support
  • Contribute to, attend, and/or lead East-West sponsored spiritual formation activities and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA degree or equivalent experience within discipline, highly preferred
  • 2-3 years minimum experience working in a similar role, preferred
  • 2-3 years of ministry/nonprofit experience, preferred
  • At least 3 or more years of experience as an internationally deployed, support-raised, cross-cultural worker, desired
  • Experienced in sharing their faith with a clear, concise gospel message
  • Experienced in effectively discipling new followers of Jesus
  • Demonstrates a healthy, growing spiritual life, including a servant attitude toward leadership responsibilities
  • High commitment to, and practice of, regular prayer and study of the Word
